Notice of Intent to Adopt Order Revising Export List for Surplus Lines Insurance

Friday June 25, 2021

BOISE, ID (June 25, 2021) – The Idaho Department of Insurance (DOI) issued an intent to adopt an Order with a revised export list, which determines what types of insurance coverage can be acquired through surplus lines insurance brokers. The export list is revised periodically based on recommendations from the Surplus Lines association. Under Idaho law, the Director determines whether there exists an adequate market and allows types of coverage when no reasonable or adequate market exist.

Most insurance policies must be issued by companies which have been licensed and are admitted by the DOI, but certain types of insurance coverage are not offered by admitted carriers in Idaho. The export list includes the types of insurance coverage known by the DOI to be unavailable or difficult to obtain through admitted carriers in Idaho

A copy of the intent to adopt is attached along with the updated export list. Any interested party may submit written comments or provide argument in support of or in opposition to the proposed Order by submitting them on or before July 19 to:
