Disability Insurance

Disability Insurance

Disability Insurance provides income to the policyholder when the policyholder is prevented from working and earning an income due to sickness or injury.

The most common types of disability insurance are long-term disability or short-term disability.  When purchasing disability insurance, be sure you are speaking with a licensed agent who can review and explain common features, such as:

  • coverage amount – the amount of money the insurance will pay
  • waiting period – the amount of time after you become disabled before you receive benefits
  • benefit period – the amount of time you receive benefits
  • exclusions – limitations on what will be covered under the policy

Disability Insurance does not include worker’s compensation coverages.
