Testing and Fingerprints

Idaho requires testing and fingerprinting for all residents wishing to hold a license. Idaho has partnered with  PSI to provide this service.

ATTENTION: All Fingerprinting locations are down. Please follow the last two pages of the CHRI form for hard card instructions.

Testing Information

It is recommended that anybody interested in testing download the free  pre-licensing Candidate Handbook . This document gives important information in preparation for the exam.

To find the statutes and rules that are referenced in the above documents, go to Laws/Rules/Bulletins*.  NOTE: This is not a complete study guide, only an outline of topics in each exam.

Idaho does not require pre-licensing education.

Reservations for testing can be made through the Exam Registration website. Click here to register for the licensing exam.

Fingerprints Information

Residents must submit fingerprints for initial license only.

You may get your fingerprints taken by paper hard card at your local law enforcement office. Idaho does not currently have a vendor for electronic fingerprints.

Once the fingerprint card has been completed in its entirety, please remit it with a non-refundable $70.00 processing fee (personal checks are not accepted, must be in the form of a money order or cashier’s check payable to PSI Services, LLC) to the following address.

PSI Services LLC ID Insurance Fingerprinting

Boise, ID 83704

Your prints may take upwards of 6-8 weeks or more to process.

For full instructions on how to fill out the fingerprint hard card please see the CHRI/Request and Release form as it contains instructions and examples.
