Director Dean L. Cameron has authorized the Idaho Department of Insurance to allow applicants for resident insurance producer licenses to request a temporary license, pending review of their criminal history reports.

The Idaho Department of Insurance will hold a public meeting to receive comments on DOI’s Intent to Promulgate Rulemaking on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm (MT).

Severe summer storms have occurred across the state, and with that comes a reminder that anywhere it rains, it can flood. The Idaho Department of Insurance (DOI) is urging home and business owners to evaluate their flood risk and consider purchasing a flood insurance policy.

Charlotte Sheppard of Richfield, Idaho was convicted of two felony counts of insurance fraud, for stealing clients’ insurance premium to pay her personal and business bills and obligations. Sheppard was sentenced to the Idaho Department of Corrections for 10 years, with five years fixed and five years indeterminate.

The Public Health Emergency permitted Idaho consumers who would have qualified for Medicare to remain enrolled in Medicaid. Consequently, some eligible consumers may have missed the guaranteed issue period for obtaining a Medicare Supplement plan in Idaho.

Idaho Department of Insurance Director Dean L. Cameron received the National Council of Insurance Legislators’ 2022 Regulatory Leadership Award during the 2023 NCOIL Spring Meeting. This is only the second time this recognition has been awarded.

Kyle Blaine Swallow of Meridian pled guilty and has been convicted of one count of insurance fraud, a felony, for completing and submitting forged life insurance applications to gain a commission while he was an insurance producer.
