New Law: Community Rating for Medigap as of March 1, 2022
Please review the Department Bulletin No. 21-04, posted September 10. It provides guidance to carriers offering Medigap policies concerning rating, marketing and eligibility for Medicare Supplement policies in Idaho, until the publication of a temporary rule or the adoption of the rule by the Idaho legislature.
Senate Bill 1143, signed by Governor Little on April 22, 2021, revised key provisions of Medicare Supplement policy eligibility and rating. Medigap rates in Idaho are to be community rated for new coverage beginning March 1, 2022. And the Department is requesting those rate filings be submitted through SERFF no later than October 15, 2021, in order to provide sufficient time for review and implementation.
